Dr. Pengzhi Wang serves as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) of The Cyprus Institute. He received his Bachelor’s degree (2015) in Civil Engineering (specializing in Road, Bridge, and River-crossing Engineering) and subsequently his Master’s degree (2018) in Civil Engineering (specializing in Highway Engineering), both from Chang’an University (in Xi'an, China). In 2023, he completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Applied Science in Rennes (INSA Rennes, France). His doctoral research specialized in the multiscale modeling of cementitious materials, focusing on the nano- and micro-scale mechanical properties of Calcium-Silicate-Hydrates (C-S-H). A key aspect of his PhD work involved introducing an MD-based Cohesive Zone Method as a novel technique to upscale findings from the atomistic to the continuum scale in these materials.

At CyI, Dr. Wang focuses on applying molecular simulation methods to advance research in sustainable materials and carbon capture strategies. His broader research interests encompass the application of generative AI in science and engineering, including areas such as diffusion processes in polymer-based membranes for CO₂ separation and the development of low-carbon emission cementitious materials. Dr. Wang is passionate about fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and engaging in effective science communication.
