Dr. Andreas M. Savvides is a dedicated Plant Ecophysiologist specializing in the intricate interplay between plants and their abiotic environments. His academic journey has been a pursuit of unraveling the complexities of plant life within ever-changing surroundings, spanning a diverse range of plant-related disciplines from fundamental research to applied studies. Currently, he holds the position of Associate Research Scientist in Plant-Environment Interactions at the Energy, Environment, and Water Research Centre (EEWRC). Previously, he served as a Researcher at the Agricultural Research Institute in Cyprus, focusing on monitoring and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural ecosystems. Prior to that, Dr. Savvides held roles as a postdoctoral researcher at Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) and as a teaching fellow at European University of Cyprus and CUT.
Dr. Savvides's academic credentials include a PhD in Environmental Plant Physiology and an MSc in Plant Sciences/Greenhouse Horticulture from Wageningen University & Research, as well as a BSc in Agronomy/Plant Protection from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Throughout his career, he has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, books, and book chapters, and has actively participated in national, regional, and global conferences. He possesses a rich background in peer-reviewing for scientific journals, along with extensive experience in teaching, mentoring, and supervising both BSc and MSc students.
