Anna is a Ph.D. candidate in Osteoarchaeology and holds a position as an A.G. Leventis Research Assistant in Archaeological Science for the Science & Technology in Archaeology Research Center. She joined the Cyprus Institute as a contract intern in human osteoarchaeology in July 2018 after receiving degrees in Prehistoric Archaeology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (2018), Human Osteology and Funerary Archaeology at the University of Sheffield, UK (2014) and History and Archaeology at the University of Ioannina, Greece (2010). During her Bachelors and Masters studies she gained practical field and laboratory experience in excavations and the study of human remains. She has participated in a number of excavations throughout Greece and Cyprus, in Albania and in Jordan and has worked as a contract archaeologist for the Greek Ministry of Culture. Her Ph.D examines the dynamic negotiation and diachronic evolution of identity at the level of the household (oikos), city (polis) and nation (ethnos) in ancient mainland Greece through the study of human remains by applying a biocultural approach.
